Melissa was an amazing bride to work with. I made a custom 17'' veil with hand stitched lace for her ceremony. For the reception she chose to go all out, and I made a custom flower headpiece that intertwined her wedding colors. I used a beautiful aqua, and coral silk fabric adorned with hand wired Swarovski rhinestone stemming. For her bridesmaids I made five custom flowers with hand wired stemming to match the reception headpiece.
Each flower is hand stitched and customized specifically for Melissa!

Hello! Sorry I have not had time to post lately! The summer months are my most busy months and I have not had time to post. I have been working on my seasonal collection for the holidays, sending out samples all next week, and meeting with Chicago boutiques. About two months ago I found this amazing fabric supplier out of california, they have the most beautiful pastel fabric. I have been making the most vibrant flowers. Sometimes I just stare at the flowers and arrange them together based on their accent colors. I love the ways purples and pinks look together. It has been getting super hot here in Chicago, and I have all my windows open and fans on. I chug iced coffee all day and make flowers, I love my life right. Yesterday I took some time off to hang out with my friends and we went to the Chicago Diner. It was absolutely amazing food! It is hard to find good vegetarian food. Sometimes vegetarian restaurants are bland but no, the bbq wings were divine and my veggie burger was the cherry on top. But anyways, while I work I watch shows but right now I can't seem to find a good show to get into, do you have any suggestions? That is all for now but I will share more shots of the seasonal collection as I get most finished pieces out. Please feel free to look around my website until my next post :)

Yesterday I finished up a custom order for a very sweet bride, Mary. Her color palette is gold/darkblue/light blue. I made seven bridesmaid flowers, a reception headpiece, a ceremony headpiece, and a flower for her honeymoon. We designed the entire collection together. I love that she wanted to incorporate vintage jewelry into the center of each flower. She was such a job to work with and has amazing taste. I think the best part of my job is working with Brides and getting their style into my designs. I should also mention that Mary is an amazing artist, take a look at her work here.

Working in the wedding industry I come across a lot of very beautiful situations. I am so happy that some of my closest friends and family will be able to Marry the ones they love. I can only hope that when I have children and they are old enough to get married they will be free to marry the person they love.
Today we got a little bit closer!
Things have finally settled down since the big move to Chicago and I am now meeting with boutiques within Chicago. I think one of my favorite things to do is to meet with other business owners who enjoy quality products. Since I first started I have had time to perfect a lot of my techniques and I feel very confident in my products. I have, of course, had a few bad(awful) experiences but I think that is all part of running a business, you have to learn from your mistakes. One tip I will share with other designers looking to do wholesale with boutiques is to make sure you are working with a boutique who respects your work. If a boutique begins to negotiate the wholesale price of the product too soon, or tries to make your product compete with items that were manufactured in the hundreds, walk away. My rule is, if you have to explain to someone why it is better to buy local, quality, non-massed produced items, then it is not worth your time. Trust me, you will end up sounding like a hippie asshole, and your not an asshole. They either get it, or they don't. Stick to your guns.
But onto the amazing news I am bringing back some of my seasonal items to local boutiques within the Chicago area. I can't get over how many amazing shops, and galleries there are. Whenever I am out and about I am always looking at different shops that I think would make a good fit for my work. Lets just say there are too many I can't wait to share all the new shop locations!

If you need some beautiful flowers for an occasion or wedding, stop at MAUD Boutique in Omaha,NE. I created a custom collection for Maud this past month. You can find some of our unique flowers and fascinators! I also made a completely custom flower that was inspired by the signature Coco Chanel white flower. Maud is such a lovely boutique and she has such an amazing collection. She works with local vintage dealers to find some truly unique pieces, the dress above with the rhinestone detail is from the 20's to early 30's, is insanely stunning in person and you can't find pieces like that anymore.
I also wrote about the custom collection I did for Maud here.
Maud is located at 521 N. 33rd St. Omaha,NE. She is located right next to Cali Taco on California Street. You can also get exclusive looks at her amazing collection here, on Facebook!
Happy Monday! So my week long vacation is over. We moved to Chicago about a week ago and the apartment is finally in order, except we have not hung our millions of paintings. I gave myself a week off to get settled into our new place because I don't work well when I am doing too many things at once. Today I am starting work on some sample sets for a boutique, finishing up a custom bridal order for my beautiful friend Mary Ensz, who is an amazing painter. I just got in some beautiful Opal Swarovski Rhinestones that I plan to use for the stemming of one of the samples. I love mixing up colors and adding a little sparkle. Things have been going well, I am just learning to use the trains and public transportation but I don't think I am ready to do it alone just quite yet. I will post more pictures of the samples I am working on today. Today color is my best friend.
Thank you Daily Candy for featuring our Cadence flowers!
&& Happy Birthday to my best friend Mary, who is turning 24! She is still single but yet owns ZERO Cats, way to hang in there Mary!
